In the 'preview mode' the program allows you record and then convert your DVD while playing. This mode enables you to rip all your DVD as well as selecting only part of the movie by manually specify the start and the end of the recording. The crop option is also available in the 'preview mode' which is very useful if you want to prevent recording those black edges from the movie in case you have any.
The 'list mode' is provided without any preview of the DVD movie. With this method the ripping process is faster because you don't have to wait for the recording process like in the 'preview mode'. Also this mode enables you to select the chapters you want or select part of the movie by setting the start and the end of the part. However it's hard to rip only a part of the movie in this mode because you can't see the movie, but you can use 'preview mode' to determine the time of the part you want to rip and input into 'list mode' for a fast conversion. Moreover the batch feature is available in this mode which enables you to add multiple DVDs for ripping. Both modes are provided with lots of profiles with different settings for the output format, especially for mobile device, but you can always change the settings for each profile provided.
In conclusion, I find this program one of the best DVD rippers with cropping and trimming features which allows a better editing before converting.
